Meet Aaron B. Greenbaum
Mr. Greenbaum’s practice focuses on a range of brown water and blue water maritime issues, excess liabilities matters, as well as land-based torts and transactional issues. In the maritime context, he has represented clients in defense of Jones Act and 905(b) claims, cargo claims, offshore platform and rig incidents, vessel collisions, tug and tow, offshore casualties, Limitation of Liability, maritime liens, bunker disputes, vessel arrest and attachment, defense and indemnity, maritime bankruptcy, and commercial litigation. He has represented clients in transactional matters including drafting and negotiating bunker contracts, charter parties, and master service agreements.
Mr. Greenbaum currently serves as Chair of the Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. He is a Proctor in Admiralty and active member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He previously served as Chair of the New Orleans Bar Association Young Lawyers Council.
Concerning excess liabilities, Mr. Greenbaum regularly represents excess insurers and corporations in defense of excess claims, including marine liabilities, trucking and commercial vehicle incidents, toxic torts, and Longshore 905(b) and 933 claims. He also represents clients with respect to coverage and defense and indemnity disputes, including under the Louisiana Oilfield Indemnity Act and Texas Oilfield Indemnity Act. Mr. Greenbaum is currently a vice-chair of the Excess, Surplus Lines and Reinsurance Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, providing several publications on the topics of excess and surplus lines regulation, coverage, arbitration, and the impact of maritime contract determinations on excess insurer additional insured obligations.
